Apply to be a Volunteer:

After speaking with one of the staff members at our site, we encourage you to apply with the City of Edinburg to be a city volunteer. This will allow you to volunteer more than once per year at the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands and also at other city functions.

Click here to download the application or visit the City of Edinburg's website. Once you have completed these forms please turn them into the Human Resources Department (Personnel) at Edinburg City Hall. We will be contacted and, in turn, will contact you as soon as you're cleared with the city.

How You can help

Whether you are one individual or a group of 30, below are some of the common areas our volunteers work in.

Maintaining the Native Plant Gardens

There's always a lot of work to be done in our Butterfly and Dessert Gardens. Despite EWBC staff efforts, we can't keep up with those pesky weeds! In fall and winter, we also put in a lot of new native plants. Help us keep this garden looking beautiful and continue providing habitat and food for countless creatures!

Native Plant Nursery

Have a green thumb? Help the EWBC Naturalist propagate and plant hundreds of native trees, grasses, and forbs! Tasks may include transplanting, potting, propagating (many methods), watering and all-maintenance of the Nursery area. Also, participate and help plan revegetation efforts on our grounds.

Programs and Events

The EWBC has several big events every year (ex. Coastal Expo in the spring) that require hundreds of helpful volunteers! Also, occasionally we will need help with our smaller programs. Keep an eye on this page and on our Events page for the latest programs you can volunteer at!

Community Garden

The Edinburg Community Garden (ECG) has been in existence since 2008 thanks in-part to volunteers that have taught gardening classes, built raised beds, moved topsoil, and much more! If you are interested in being a volunteer and a caretaker for this garden, please call us!
