Native Plant Nursery

Call for Volunteers

The nursery needs constant attention!  Weeds are always present, but need to be held at bay. If you like relaxing, outdoor work then think about volunteering at the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands Nursery.

Contact our naturalist for questions or to learn more about how you can help in the Native Plant Nursery.

Welcome to our native plant nursery. Many of the beautiful plants that grace our gardens started here! The Edinburg Scenic Wetlands is committed to providing quality habitat for local wildlife. Part of this commitment involves propagating and planting of species that are native to the Lower Rio Grande Valley.

The Native Plant Nursery consists of two 4 ft x 20 ft wooden tables set up with sprinkler systems and shade netting. The sprinkling system is regulated by a timer. Ground cloths have been laid down to deter weeds and grasses from encroaching. There is also a storage closet for tools and supplies along with a work bench for potting up plants.
